Lady Fingers Bud

My effort in planting vegetables, including lady finger, has finally start to show result. Today I found a bud coming out from a lady finger plant!! This is one of the 2 seedlings that I bought from Shah Alam's Farmer Market.

The other seedling that I bought has grown to be the tallest plant among my lady finger plants.

I have also grown lady finger plants from seeds but they don't seem to be doing well. They even have different kind of leaves from the young seedling that I bought from Shah Alam's Farmer Market. I am not sure if I have mixed it up with the brinjal seedling. Can anyone help to verify that both plants are lady fingers?

Clap clap clap!!! Very good job! Sorry I do not know why the leaves are in different shape. But I can tell you that I saw a purple lady's finger plant before. I wonder if purple lady's finger would taste as good as the normal green ones.

Thanks for showing these beautiful plants and have a great weekend ;-)

JC... what are going to do with lady fingers when they long and big enough. Kari Kepala Ikan?.., or just fry them?... or put fish paste as in Yong Tau Fo? [ spelling macam tak betul saja]

I can read the marker clearly that you bought them from Pasar Tani SA. SA is Shah Alam?...

Lovely plants you have there, everything seems to be growing just fine.

This plant is still small, yet it is already flowering! The other plant looks like a papaya to me. But then, it can't deviate so much, can it?

Hi Steph, I have seen a dark maroon lady finger in Bandar Harapan Organic Farm and was told that they got the seeds from Taiwan.

Hi Bang Chik & Kak Dah, I love to cook lady fingers with ikan assam pedas. Sedap!!

Hi Autumn Belle, you are one of the many that thought one of the plants look like papaya. I don't know how papaya seeds got mixed up with lady fingers seed.....ha ha ha! Hope it's another type of lady fingers. Cross my fingers :)

Hi. I'm Arnold. I'm a worm farmer in Perak. And I really enjoyed your blog and your efforts in growing things.

Drop me an email. When I find my way to KL, I'll send you 50kg of active worm compost for you to try FOC.

Cheers.

Hi Green Thumb,

You are right, the right plant turned out to be a papaya after all. I intend to transfer it to the park near my house. My neighbour has cultivated a section of the park into sort of a community garden. For those of us who contributed our plant there, we will visit it frequently to prune or clear the place.

Isn't it funny to buy lady finger seeds and ended up having papaya plant growing from those seeds?

Wow, Lord of the Morning, that's generous of you. 50kg of worm compost, that'd be a lot for my little garden.

No problem.

Fact is, I love planting lady's fingers too.

Tell you what. We finally set up the website. http://organicsayur.com

Check it out.

I'll post here again when I am coming to KL and make arrangements to pass you the stuff.

For ladyfinger, you can buy the seeds and instruction given how to plant it. I planted some days ago, now about 3 inch tall.
