In Transition

I have not done any posting since we moved to our new house. It's already 3 weeks since we moved. Still a lot of things to follow through. I didn't manage to bring all my stuffs over from our old house. So I still go back regularly to pick up things that I miss and also to water some big plants that are still there. Yet to figure out how I should arrange them in our new place.

Before we moved, my 3 big pots of bougainvillaes collapsed due to the strong wind during a heavy downpour. Unfortunately, I used wires to tie up the 3 bougainvillae plants together so they can support each other well. They did support each other all the way to their fall! Reminds me of the Three Muskeeters tagline "All for one & one for all"! They were growing so beautifully and pink blooms were showing. I was expecting more blooms as the weather is getting very hot these days and bougainvillae blooms well under such weather! It's sad to see the top broken from the branches. So heart-broken that I forgot to take any photos of them. We had to chop them down and now we have 3 remaining trunks. Hope they will start to shoot and grow again!

Photos of the bougainvillaes taken in September 2009 when they were blooming profusely. I love the 2 pots with the variegated leaves and pink blooms. One pot produces orangey bloom but its flowers are very few. You can see one flower on the top of the second photo.

Bright Blossoms in the Garden

It may be the start of autumn in the northern hemisphere where one would enjoy cooler weather. But not where I am! Over here in Subang Jaya, we get scorching heat from morning till mid-noon. By late noon, the dark clouds would be looming. Occasionall we will have rainfall in the evening. Otherwise, it will arrive when we are in deep slumber. We will be greeted by fresh morning air! That's what I like best. The plants in the garden would look so alive!!

As an effect of the weather, my bougainvillaea has produced profuse bright-coloured blossoms. My bougainvillaea has vibrant pink that shout for attention from afar. Neighbours have came over to give me compliments for their radiant blooms. This time there are blooming more than what I have blogged previously in April's Bougainvillaea - Forever Blooming. Everytime I look at the splash of pink, I just can't help smiling with admiration.

I think the hot weather plus the dosage of fertilizer 47 that I fed to the plant has helped in producing the profuse blooms.

Apart from Bougainvillaea, the Bird of Paradise is also producing many blooms.

Bougainvillaea - Forever Blooming

Bougainvillaea is a sun-loving plant and it is such an easy plant to grow. As I do not have much shade in my garden, I let my bougainvillaea grow tall and I tried to shape it into a big umbrella so that I could place some of my orchids and plants under the shade of the bougainvillaea plant. Lately, my bougainvillaea has grown out of control and look quite messy. My neighbour suggests that it is time to trim and re-shape it.

The only dismay that I have with my bougainvillaea is it doesn't bloom as much as when I first bought it from the nursery. The whole tree had more blooms than leaves. I have 3 pots of bougainvillaeas ~ 2 pots of fuschia colour flowers and 1 orange flower. The orange flower hardly blooms. In the 2nd photo above, you can see a few tiny orange bloom at the back.

I have used the NPK compound fertilizers to stimulate the flowering of my bougainvillaeas. But I believe this is not good enough because it doesn't flower as much. If anyone has more tips on what to do to encourage more blooms on my bougainvillaea, please do share with me. I will try to trim my bougainvillaea in these two days to make them neater and tidier.
