How Is My Garden Growing?

With spring onions here and there....

Blooming Thai basils everywhere...snip, snip....gotta keep the flowers away so that the plants can live on.

Marigold is over 3 feet tall and giving me blooms!! Yahoo! I now have yellow and orange Marigolds. Sorry didn't take any shot of the Yellow Marigold.

Gardenia buds showing

but.....they never did bloom...

until I see this sweet smelling white blossom that made my heart skipped with delight!

Good to see your Gardenia blossoming. Does it smells nice?

I'm envious of your Thai basil. Mine didn't look that happy. I will try again next year when our weather gets warmer. Great photography!

The gardenia flower is gorgeous and I bet it's fragance is heavenly. I have been trying to grow a chempaka tree in a flower pot but so far no luck with flowers yet :( Looks more like it is turning into a big bonsai.

Your garden looks great!
The onions look so healthy and the thai basil looks great too.

To help your gardenias bloom you can try to put some banana peels. also remember gardenias like acid soil, so some coffee grounds or a light vinegar solution to the soil might help.

Ps: thanks for the comment on my blog

Hi One, Autumn Belle, the gardenia smells very nice. I wish there are more blooms and their fragrance permeates through my whole garden. I also have a pot of chempaka that I transferred to the field across my old house when I moved. It also didn't bloom under my care.

Hi Helen, don't give up on growing Thai Basil. I have tried several times before being successful. My earlier Basil plants were always attacked by pest (black and tiny in size). Now I learnt how to overcome this pest by using garlic, chilli and dish detergent mixed with water and spray on this pest. They stop visiting my basil and they are flourishing well now.

Hi delcasmx, thanks for the tips. I will try out the banana skin. Is it the potassium in the banana skin that make the gardenia blooms? I will also give some coffee grounds to it.

Hi Milka, Hahaha...I am curious to find out how tall is my Marigold and thus the measurement tape.

I miss having gardenia. The one in my parent's garden is always flowering. I should get one.

For me,gardenias look like white roses but their scent is far more greater. Love gardenias!

Your marigolds are really tall! What a pretty sight with orange and yellow flowers together.

Your basils are always really nicely and good selection. I still remember your chicken basil recipe! Yum yum.

Gardenias are lovely but the blooms don't last as long as I would like them to be. I have two plants in my garden and I simply adore the fragrance.
